PSYCHICS & PARANORMAL

Commentary

 Scripture References

All astrological, psychic, and paranormal activities are deeply rooted in the occult and must be avoided at all costs. These harmful practices include horoscopes, psychic readings, Ouija boards, fortune-telling, palm reading, seances, magic arts, voodoo, witchcraft, telepathy, spellcasting, and paranormal-related movies, documentaries, and television programs.

The power behind these activities and their “harmless appearance” is always demonic. Likewise, individuals who perform these practices are inspired or empowered by evil spirits, knowingly or unknowingly. Behind the scenes, the evil, demonic forces aim to use these people and methods to lead unsuspecting individuals away from God.

Satan is a master at using the façade of obtaining futuristic or supernatural knowledge through psychic practices to entice people strategically. His ultimate goal is to inflict spiritual destruction upon them once they have opened themselves up to his deceptive world of darkness. Furthermore, individuals performing or engaging in psychic or paranormal activities automatically give demons permission and access into their lives by default. This involvement can lead to demonic oppression and, in many cases, possession for those who are not born-again. Therefore, reading horoscopes or engaging in psychic and paranormal practices should be avoided by all people at all times.

Born-again believers have direct access to God to obtain knowledge, wisdom, discernment, direction, information, and instruction. They have the indwelling Holy Spirit as their Helper, Guide, Counselor, Comforter, and Teacher. They also have the inspired Word of God, which is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Therefore, nothing more is needed, “seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:2-3).
