Is the Millennium a downgrade for glorified saints?

Scripture teaches that glorified believers in Heaven will return to Earth with Jesus at His second coming to rule and reign with Him during the Millennium. Revelation 19:11-14 says, “And I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in Heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.” 1 Corinthians 6:2-3 says, “Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?”

Upon reading these verses, some might view the relocation of glorified believers back to Earth as a downgrade or a step backward from Heaven after experiencing its joy and perfection. They may also assume “ruling and reigning with Jesus” will be burdensome or something to be dreaded because they see Heaven as a place of eternal rest —not temporary rest followed by 1,000 years of labor.

So, will the Millennium be a downgrade for glorified believers because they have to work?

The short answer is no. But it is easy to assume otherwise because we have no frame of reference for overseeing or managing people as righteous saints whose sinful natures have been eradicated. Our only relatable experiences with governing others on Earth has typically included frustration, irritation, or stress over their mistakes, failures, or bad attitudes —causing us to feel burdened and discouraged by such responsibility.

However, glorified saints helping Jesus govern those who repopulate the Earth during the 1,000 years will not be burdensome, feel like a chore, or be dreaded, even though it involves work. Instead, it will be an honor and privilege to serve the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ, while helping enforce His imposed righteousness upon those within their assigned jurisdiction (see Zechariah 14:16-19, Daniel 7:13-14, 1 Corinthians 6:2-3, and Revelation 19:15).

Another interesting fact about the Millennium is that Satan will be bound for 1,000 years, unable to deceive or tempt anyone to sin. Revelation 20:1-3 says, “Then I saw an angel coming down from Heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.”

Therefore, with Jesus’ righteousness imposed upon those living in their natural, physical bodies on Earth, Satan’s inability to tempt or deceive anyone for 1,000 years, and glorified believers serving the Lord Jesus Christ in perfect harmony and unity with Him, everyone will experience “Heaven on Earth” like never before.

I hope this information helps you understand how saints working on Earth during the Millennium is not a demotion, downgrade, or step backward from Heaven in any way. If you have any questions about this or other subjects, simply reply to this email.
